Scientists are creating a robotic head that will allow couples to kiss from a distance, the Sun reported.

It works using software from Kissenger, the world's first virtual kissing app over the phone. The app consists of a silicone mouth that connects to the phone. Once the user places their lips on the device, it senses the pressure from their lips and transmits it to their partner's phone, causing their plastic lips to move as well.

Manufacturers are working on a robotic head that works in a similar way. Additionally, users can put their lover's perfume in the device, giving the impression of smelling a real person.

"We want to create a silicone head to complete a kissing robot. It will use the same technology as the mobile phone version. In addition, we will attach control sensors to the robot's head," said Emma Yann Zhang, the creator.
