Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc: 'Strictly prohibit group interests in institution building'

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 23, the Ministry of Justice held a national online conference to deploy judicial work in 2017. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Prime Minister attended and directed the conference.

In 2016, the Ministry of Justice has promptly and comprehensively implemented the work program, work plan, resolutions and directions of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government and the political tasks of each locality. The development and completion of legal documents continues to be focused on investing resources, with many regulations to better ensure human rights and civil rights, better serve the needs of people and businesses; and significantly reduce the "backlog" of documents under the authority of the Government and the Prime Minister.

Administrative and judicial work, especially the pilot application of software for birth registration and issuance of personal identification books, associated with the implementation of the Law on Civil Status, has initially achieved effectiveness and timely service to the people.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Judiciary in 2016. The Prime Minister also frankly pointed out the shortcomings and limitations of the sector such as the ineffectiveness of the law-making program, the weak enforcement of the law leading to the situation of "lawlessness", complicated administrative procedures, etc.

Therefore, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested the Ministry and the Judicial Sector in the coming time to make more efforts, be proactive, and closely follow the policy of building an honest, creative, and people- and business-serving Government. It is especially necessary to focus on building a legal system that ensures stability, transparency, and feasibility; focus on removing difficulties and obstacles; strictly prohibit group interests in institution building; strongly reform administrative procedures, etc.

At the conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee proposed that the Government soon direct ministries and branches to overcome current shortcomings and overlaps; branches need to have effective implementation solutions so that judicial work can meet the requirements.

Based on the Prime Minister's conference direction and the discussion opinions of local leaders, the Ministry and the Justice Sector identified a number of key tasks that need to focus resources on to implement in 2017, such as: Consolidating and perfecting the organization, apparatus, and staff of judicial and legal agencies from the central to local levels; continuing to develop and perfect draft laws drafted by the Ministry of Justice to ensure progress and quality; developing and effectively implementing the Project on innovation in the dissemination and education of law and the Program on dissemination and education of law for the period 2017 - 2020; advising the Government to promptly handle issues arising in international integration, negotiating, signing, and implementing international treaties, etc.

At the conference, the Ministry of Justice also announced the decision to reward collectives and individuals with many contributions to judicial work in 2016 and launched the emulation movement in 2017./.
