Doctors and police contribute money to support poor twins in hospital

On December 27, Tuong Duong District Hospital received two patients, the twin girls Xeo Thi Song Thu and Xeo Thi Song Thuy (14 months old), of the Kho Mu ethnic group, children of Ho Thi Non residing in Na Be village, Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district.

The children were hospitalized with symptoms of prolonged diarrhea, dehydration, respiratory infections and malnutrition.

According to doctors from the Pediatrics Department of Tuong Duong District General Hospital, the health of the two children has now stabilized. However, they cannot be discharged yet because they still need to be monitored for signs of infection and respiratory tract inflammation.

Thanks to health insurance, Thuy and Thu did not have to pay hospital fees. However, to take care of the children, Ho Thi Non and her grandmother had to run around everywhere but could only borrow 500,000 VND. After deducting travel expenses, Non only had 300,000 VND left when she got to the hospital. After two days, she ran out of money for food.

Realizing that Ms. Non and her mother-in-law were not qualified to take care of their child, the doctors of the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Department called on several other departments of the Tuong Duong District Hospital to contribute money to support daily meals. On January 1, the Tuong Duong District Police Youth Union also went to the hospital bed to give gifts and money to support Ms. Non's family.

Xeo Thi Song Thu is 14 months old but weighs just over 5kg.

Ms. Ho Thi Non (born 1995) is from Quang Nam province, and has been married to Na Be village, Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district since 2014. Her husband is Mr. Xeo Van May, currently working in Dak Nong. She heard that her son had to go to the hospital but due to financial circumstances, she has not been able to send money back.

Every day, Non goes to the forest to clear the fields, but since giving birth to her two children, she has not been able to do much work. Currently, Non and her two children are living with their elderly grandmother. Due to their difficult circumstances, the twins Thu and Thuy are over 14 months old but each weighs only 5kg.
