Cuba issues law on use of name and image of leader Fidel Castro
On December 27, the Cuban National Assembly passed a bill banning the use of Fidel Castro's name to name public buildings or erect memorials to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, in accordance with the leader's wishes before his death.

According to a VNA reporter in Havana, the bill prohibits the use of Fidel Castro's name to name organizations, squares, parks, avenues, streets and other public places, as well as any type of medal, honor or noble title.
In addition, this bill also does not allow the use of the image of leader Fidel Castro to build memorials, statues, memorial signs, and all other similar forms of commemoration in public places.
However, the bill allows artists to use Fidel Castro's image and name in their works such as literature, music, dance or fine arts. At the same time, the use of photos of the Cuban revolutionary leader or images related to his revolutionary career at public events is also not restricted.
