French President Francois Hollande has called for the complete lifting of the trade embargo on Cuba, as he spoke on November 26 on BFMTV about the death of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

"I would like, on the occasion of Fidel Castro's death, to once again focus attention on the fact that the embargo, which has a negative impact on Cuba, must be lifted completely," Mr Hollande told reporters in Madagascar's capital Antananarivo.

He also noted that: "Cuba can be fully present in the international community as a partner."
