From the Middle East to more than 43 countries around the world

In 1998, Vinamilk began exporting its first powdered milk products to the Middle East, with Iraq as the main market under the United Nations Oil for Food program. Vinamilk's export turnover in 1998 was 27 million USD; with an output of nearly 9,000 tons of milk.

The Middle East is a gateway for businesses to meet customers from surrounding countries. Vinamilk's goal is to grow 10% per year in the Middle East market through cooperation with distributors in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. This is also considered Vinamilk's first export market.

In early 2016, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) continued to implement a contract to export infant formula worth 12.5 million USD to the Middle East. With more than 15 years of experience developing in this regional market, Vinamilk has been expanding its product portfolio with new lines such as condensed milk and nutritional powder to meet the specific needs of consumers here. This has helped the company achieve high sales growth in the Middle East over the past 5 years at 38%.

Up to now, after many years of efforts to find markets and participate in trade promotion activities, Vinamilk's products have been exported to 43 countries around the world with a variety of products such as powdered milk, nutritional powder, condensed milk, liquid milk, soy milk, yogurt, fruit juice, ice cream, etc.

Vinamilk's 2015 export turnover reached over VND5,300 billion (about USD245 million), an increase of 77% compared to 2014 and an increase of 800% compared to 1998; export output in 2015 reached over 47,000 tons of milk, an increase of about 430% compared to 1998 - the first year Vinamilk participated in export activities.

Exports contribute approximately 13% to the company's total consolidated revenue. In recent years, the company has continued to maintain exports to traditional markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, focusing on exploring potential markets in Africa and especially markets requiring high-quality products such as Japan and Canada.

In the domestic market, throughout nearly 40 years of construction and development, Vinamilk has always affirmed its position as the leading nutrition group in Vietnam. In addition, this dairy giant has always placed export in its long-term development strategy. This also aims to help Vinamilk achieve its goal of becoming one of the 50 largest dairy companies in the world with a turnover of 3 billion USD in the coming years, putting the Vietnamese national milk brand on the map of the world dairy industry.

To reach out to the international market, the core issue is still developing and improving products, meeting the increasingly high demands and standards of consumers. Along with that, it is necessary to expand the distribution system, focus on market research activities to understand the needs of people in each region, invest in marketing to increase product awareness and enhance brand value.

Accordingly, Vinamilk's product research and development team always updates the latest knowledge on technology, as well as closely studies domestic and international markets to seek opportunities and ideas for product development. The dairy factories are also equipped with sterilized fresh milk production lines with modern equipment and leading advanced production technology today.

The launch of two super-large capacity powdered milk and liquid milk factories in 2013 has helped Vinamilk not only meet the increasing demand of the domestic market, but also ensure the ability to serve exports. Vinamilk continues to make strategic investments in the system of developing raw material areas according to international standards. To date, Vinamilk has 7 operating farms and 3 farms under construction, all of which are large-scale with all cows imported from Australia, the US and New Zealand.

Currently, all Vinamilk farms meet Global GAP standards for farm management and pure fresh milk quality. All farms have modern waste treatment systems that do not pollute the environment. In addition, Vinamilk also cooperates with more than 8,000 dairy farming households with more than 120,000 cows nationwide, contributing to the average raw fresh milk production of about 750 tons of milk/day, contributing to creating jobs for farmers, building a stable and sustainable development of the Vietnamese dairy farming industry.
