Nghe An: Successful rescue of fishing boat and 7 crew members in distress

(Baonghean.vn) - After 2 days drifting at sea, on the night of January 3, 2017, the fishing boat with license plate NA 90689 TS and 7 crew members in distress at sea were towed safely to shore by a ship of the Nghe An Border Guard.

Previously, at 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2017, the Nghe An Border Guard Command received a notice from the Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station (BTR), at 3:57 p.m. on January 2, 2017, at coordinates 18°30´N - 106º40´E, about 34 nautical miles east of Sot - Thach Ha - Ha Tinh, fishing boat NA 90689 TS captained by Mr. Tran Van The, residing in Tho Tien hamlet, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An, and 7 crew members lost control and could not be repaired, and needed urgent assistance.

Upon receiving the news, Nghe An Border Guard mobilized ship BP 06-19-01, along with 15 officers and soldiers of Squadron 2 to go to the rescue. Despite the weather at sea being densely foggy, visibility being limited, the ship being damaged and having no communication, with the spirit of urgency to find a means of rescue, by 06:00 on January 3, 2017, the rescue ship had reached the fishing boat in distress. By the night of January 3, 2017, the fishing boat and the crew in distress were brought safely to shore.
