The 4-0 victory at home was a clear statement of strength from Kiatisuk's team to the rest of Southeast Asian football.

Along with their 2-0 victory in the first leg, Thailand defeated Myanmar with a total score of 6-0 after two legs and advanced to the final undefeated.

Despite playing at home, Thailand played at a slow pace, even conceding control of the game to Myanmar in the early minutes. In the 33rd minute, the home team opened the scoring with a simple header from a cross. The goalscorer was midfielder Sarawut Masuk.

Following this goal, both teams played openly and created many scoring opportunities. The most notable for Myanmar were Aung Kyaw's curling shot in the 38th minute and Than Paing's shot that hit the post in the 48th minute. In the 65th minute, Thailand were awarded a penalty after Aung Kyaw fouled Masuk inside the penalty area. From the penalty spot, Theerathon Bunmathan beat goalkeeper Zin Phyo. Bunmathan had provided the assist for Masuk's opening goal.

After conceding the second goal, the Myanmar players showed signs of impatience and lost their composure. They clashed with the home team's players after several clashes. Even the Myanmar coaching staff lost their temper. Following an argument with the referee, coach Gerd Zeise was sent off.

In the 69th minute, Thailand nearly scored a third goal after a mistake by goalkeeper Zin Phyo. Yoyeen's shot into the empty net was saved by David Htan. However, the home team only had to wait seven more minutes to score another goal. The scorer was Siroch Chatthong, a player Kiatisuk brought on at halftime to replace Teerasil Dangda.

Receiving a long pass from Chappuis, Chatthong beat the Myanmar defender in a one-on-one situation before firing the ball into the top corner of the net past goalkeeper Zin Phyo. In the 83rd minute, it was "Thai Messi" Chanathip Songkrasin's turn to score. The diminutive midfielder received a pass from Masuk and easily shot the ball into the Myanmar net from a favorable position.

The best player for Thailand in this match was Sarawut Masuk. He scored the opening goal, won a penalty, and contributed an assist. This was Masuk's third goal in the 2016 AFF Cup, equaling Boaz Solossa of Indonesia and trailing only his teammate Dangda in the race for the top scorer award.

Having scored four goals against Myanmar and conceded none, Thailand continues to demonstrate its strength in the regional arena. Kiatisuk's team is just one match away from defending their title against Indonesia, a team they previously defeated 4-2 in the group stage. The first leg of the final will take place at the Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, Indonesia, on December 14th. Three days later, the second leg will be played at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
