'Noo, Dong Nhi, and Toc Tien are not yet qualified to be coaches on The Voice'
Many readers commented that Noo Phuoc Thinh, Dong Nhi, and Toc Tien simply have a large fan base but lack the qualifications to be coaches for The Voice 2017.
On the afternoon of January 3rd, the producers of The Voice 2017 announced the list of 4 coaches for this year's season. Besides Thu Minh's return, which has attracted public attention, the remaining three names – Noo Phuoc Thinh, Dong Nhi, and Toc Tien – as mentors for the contestants have also sparked much debate.
Undeniably, all three are stars with huge fan bases and a keen understanding of new fashion and music trends. However, many readers believe that these three are too young, lack experience, and are not yet qualified to be coaches.
'Not good enough to be a coach'
The appearance of three new faces in the coaching panel of The Voice this year has received mixed reactions from the public. Readers believe that the young singers are not yet mature enough to take on the role of coach in a famous, nationally recognized music program.
As for Dong Nhi, Noo Phuoc Thinh, and Toc Tien, they showed excitement, confidence, and boundless energy at the opportunity to try out a new experience.
In contrast to the coaches' enthusiasm, many readers expressed frustration and disagreement with the organizers' selection. Readers argued that these three singers only have average abilities and are not yet qualified to be coaches on the Vietnamese singing competition.
"These singers are good at singing, performing on stage, and have a large fan base, but their knowledge of music theory and vocal techniques is limited; they probably only know the basics. With such abilities, how can they train others?" member Huy Quang frankly stated.

Responding to criticism regarding the producers' choice of coaches, Dong Nhi asserted: "I'm almost 30 years old, so I'm not young anymore. I think this isn't a risk, but rather a change that will make the program fresher and more youthful."
Tóc Tiên also emphasized that she will demonstrate her seriousness and prove her abilities through the program.
These individuals have prior experience as coaches on various music programs. In 2016, Noo Phuoc Thinh and Dong Nhi won numerous prestigious awards both domestically and internationally and both served as coaches on The Voice Kids. Toc Tien also made a strong impression as a judge on Vietnam Idol Kids.
However, many believe that their experience as judges in talent competitions for children is insufficient to guide adult singers.
"Coaches who lack the necessary expertise will find it difficult to discover and develop the talents of the contestants. This prevents the 'students' of the three young singers from shining and fully showcasing their inherent abilities," reader Duy Nguyen commented.
'The gap in skill level is too wide'
Besides assessing the experience of the young singers, many opinions also drew comparisons about the differences in skill levels among the coaches of The Voice 2017.
Thu Minh is a versatile singer known for her naturally high-pitched and soaring voice. She was also the winning coach of the first season of The Voice (2012) along with her protégé Huong Tram.
With her many years of experience and impressive achievements, it's no surprise that the comparison in terms of ability and experience between the coaches chosen by the organizers of The Voice 2017 is quite striking.
"The coaching panel has a huge disparity. Thu Minh has deep and broad knowledge of music and has previously coached on the show. Dong Nhi, Noo Phuoc Thinh, and Toc Tien, on the other hand, only have experience performing on stage," reader Quang Chuong stated.

In fact, some television programs have also received considerable criticism for their choice of coaches. This happens when they invite celebrities who lack the necessary skills and experience to be judges on the show.
In 2016, the organizers of The Face - Brand Ambassador also received considerable criticism regarding their choice of coaches, with many arguing that Ho Ngoc Ha, with her many years in the industry, possessed extensive knowledge and experience and was considered a top-tier figure, while Pham Huong and Lan Khue were only worthy of being her students.
According to many readers, the disparity in qualifications, abilities, and experience among the coaches would be unfair to the contestants. This would also negatively impact the quality of the program.
