According to residents of Vinh Tan ward, for over a year now, on the road through the fields between Tan Phuong and Yen Cu blocks, trucks carrying waste have brazenly stopped on the side of the road and then dumped large amounts of black liquid onto many fields.

Residents of Yen Cu block confirmed that these trucks carry waste from the toilets and dump it into their fields. This situation has been going on for a long time, but recently, the discharge has become more frequent, with residents witnessing 4-6 trucks carrying waste into their fields in a day.

According to our observations, some of the people’s water spinach fields were filled with waste, turning black, thick and giving off a foul smell. The irrigation canals nearby were also flooded with this waste.

“When it rains heavily, the water rises and waste flows into my garden. Not only is it dirty water, but plastic bags and countless dirty objects also wash into my garden,” said an indignant resident.

Most recently, at around 12:30 on December 6, we witnessed a small truck with license plate 37N-5854 moving from the center of Vinh city to the middle of the field and stopping. One of the two men in the car took out a large plastic pipe about 2 meters long, the other assisted in installing the plastic pipe into the tank in the truck. Immediately after that, a stream of thick black water rushed down the field. About five minutes later, when all the wastewater had been discharged, the two men quickly cleaned up and got back in the car and moved towards Vinh city.

The canals were black with waste.

Faced with the above phenomenon, people living in Yen Cu and Tan Phuong blocks have expressed their discontent. These people said that their rice and water spinach fields are currently heavily polluted. For more than a year now, most people in the area have not dared to eat water spinach grown in these fields. People also expressed concern about the risk of disease outbreaks that could occur here.

In addition, air pollution is also becoming more serious. The whole area is tormented by foul and stench. Even when staying indoors, it cannot be prevented. It is known that people have repeatedly expressed their opinions to the local authorities, but the above-mentioned situation still persists./.
