First time displaying Vietnam's National Treasures
In order to contribute to honoring and promoting the value of treasures, for the first time the National Museum of History organized a special exhibition "Vietnam's National Treasures" taking place from January 10, 2017.
The exhibition will introduce to visitors an overview of the treasures from the Dong Son culture period more than 2,000 years ago, the eras of Dai Viet civilization and feudal dynasties until the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam along with fascinating historical and cultural stories, thereby increasing understanding of aesthetic thinking, creativity, and talented hands, thereby encouraging patriotism and national pride, contributing to preserving, maintaining, and promoting the traditional values of Vietnamese culture.
The exhibition will introduce treasures and related scientific documents (drawings, pattern stamps, illustrations...), and use modern techniques, 3D technology in the presentation, clips introducing the discovery and research process, and expert opinions.
Each national treasure is a valuable heritage containing messages from the past, the quintessence of the rich, diverse and unique Vietnamese culture. The artifacts represent historical eras, partly reflecting the long-standing cultural history of the Vietnamese people.
With typical historical values, unique and extremely rare, based on the research of national treasure criteria, the National History Museum has proposed the National Cultural Heritage Council to select a number of artifacts to be recognized as National Treasures. Through 3 selection rounds, the Prime Minister signed the Decisions to recognize 16 artifacts that the National History Museum is preserving as National Treasures out of a total of more than 200,000 documents and artifacts.
Some valuable artifacts will be displayed in the upcoming "Vietnam National Treasures" exhibition:
