Mysterious planet 10 times bigger than Earth is about to appear?

Planet 9 could be a giant object that drifted in the darkest, coldest places in the universe before being "imprisoned" by the Solar System.

According to the Daily Mail, Planet 9 is believed to exist at the edge of the Solar System and is responsible for the strange clustering of objects in the Kuiper Belt, causing these objects to move abnormally in orbit around the Sun. The Kuiper Belt consists of celestial bodies beyond the orbit of Neptune.

Recently, researchers from New Mexico State University (NMSU) have come up with an explanation for the unusual phenomena and origin of Planet 9.

“It is entirely possible that Planet Nine started out as a ‘homeless’ world, wandering aimlessly through space without any connection to a star,” NMSU researcher James Vesper said at the 229th annual American Astronomical Society press conference in Texas.

Vesper and her mentor, Professor of Physical Sciences and Mathematics Paul Mason, simulated 156 encounters between the solar system and “homeless” planets of various sizes and orbits.

“There are countless ‘homeless’ planets floating around in the universe. It took scientists decades to observe one,” Vesper said. “If our hypothesis is correct, Planet Nine is one of those ‘homeless’ worlds that originated in the farthest, darkest places in the universe.”

In many simulations, there is a 60% chance that the “homeless” planet will be ejected from the Solar System. There is a 10% chance that they will take at least one planet with them. There is also a chance that these objects will be “trapped” in the Solar System forever.

Planet 9 is determined to be 10 times larger than Earth and could cause severe disruption to the solar system.

Which one is more likely depends on the specific properties of the “homeless” planets. Simulations also show that the solar system has never encountered a “homeless” planet larger than Neptune.

Last year, a team of 10 researchers confidently said that Planet 9 would soon be revealed in the next 16 months. This mysterious planet is said to be 10 times larger than Earth and would cause major disturbances, changing the orbits of other planets in the system if it came close.

The existence of the mysterious Planet 9 was first proposed in 2014 by two astronomers, Scott Sheppard of the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington DC and Chadwick Trujillo of the Gemini Observatory in Hawaii.

Sheppard and Trujillo found that the orbits of the dwarf planet Sedna, the celestial body 2012 VP113, and several other objects beyond Pluto share strange characteristics. It is likely that their movements through space are influenced by a giant, undiscovered object in the same region.
