To win the above award, the 16-year-old Vietnamese girl had to overcome a qualifying round with dozens of contestants from European and Asian countries. Only 12 contestants were selected for the Final round.
This is one of the competitions that is considered difficult for young Piano candidates. The competition does not have a category for those under 13 years old. There are only 3 categories: A: from 13 to 16; B: from 17 to 20 and C: under 35.
In recent years, it has been rare for Vietnamese Piano contestants aged 16 and over to win awards at international Piano competitions.
