Provincial Party Secretary visits and presents gifts to poor households and policy families in Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu districts

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of January 8, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2017, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited and presented gifts to policy families, poor households, and the elderly in Yen Thanh and Quynh Luu districts.

Accompanying the delegation were comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Candidate member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Ho Phuc Hop - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of the Provincial Police, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; the Religious Affairs Department, the Department of Home Affairs; the Provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department, and leaders of BIDV Nghe An bank.

In Bao Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, the Provincial Party Secretary and the working delegation came to present Tet gifts to 40 poor households, policy families, the elderly and typical key people of Nam Thanh, Khanh Thanh and Bao Thanh communes. Of which, the Provincial Party Secretary presented 30 million VND to 30 households and 10 televisions to 10 households.

In response to the appeal letter of the Provincial Party Secretary, Yen Thanh district has mobilized 600 million VND out of the target of 1.2 billion VND to take care of Tet for poor households, policy families, and lonely elderly people.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Provincial Party Secretary wished everyone a happy, warm, and prosperous New Year, hoping that in the new year, everyone will promote the spirit of solidarity, actively compete in labor production, strive to escape poverty, and improve their lives in a sustainable way.

In Quynh Luu district, the Provincial Party Secretary and the delegation also presented 1 million VND to 30 households and 10 televisions to 10 households. In response to the Provincial Party Secretary's appeal, Quynh Luu district mobilized people, cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, businesses and philanthropists to donate 2 billion VND to support each poor family with at least 500,000 VND to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday of the nation. By the end of 2016, Quynh Luu district had 3.7% poor households, equivalent to 2,539 households, down 2.38% compared to the previous year.

Speaking to the people of Quynh Luu district, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh said that although the province's socio-economic situation continues to develop, the poverty rate is still high. Therefore, with the spirit of ensuring that all people have the conditions to celebrate Tet happily, the province has mobilized cadres, party members, and people; calling on businesses and philanthropists to join hands to support Tet for the poor.

The Provincial Party Secretary also applauded Quynh Luu district in its poverty reduction work as well as its call for and support for Tet for the poor; thereby taking care of the poor so they can have the conditions to celebrate the Lunar New Year Dinh Dau 2017.
