10 horrific fires and explosions in 2016

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2016, many major fires and explosions occurred nationwide, causing heavy losses of life and property, raising an alarm about fire prevention and control work in establishments, businesses, and among the people.

1. Fire at Binh Duong Chemical Company

Ngày 16/3, công ty hóa chất thuộc khu công nghiệp Sóng Thần 3, Bình Dương bất ngờ cháy dữ sau đó lan rộng ra toàn bộ công ty. Vụ hỏa hoạn đã thiêu rụi hoàn toàn 5.000m2 nhà xưởng cùng nhiều đồ đạc có giá trị khác. Ước tính thiệt hại hàng chục tỉ đồng.

On March 16th, a chemical company located in the Song Than 3 industrial park in Binh Duong province suddenly caught fire, which then spread throughout the entire facility. The blaze completely destroyed 5,000 square meters of the building.²The factory and many other valuable items were damaged. The estimated damage is tens of billions of dong.

2. House fire kills 6 family members in Ca Mau.

Vụ hỏa hoạn xảy ra vào lúc 0h15 phút sáng 31/7, tại nhà số 91, Phan Bội Châu, P.7, TP.Cà Mau (Cà Mau) khiến 6 người trong gia đình tử vong. Nạn nhân là các ông Trần Quang Tiên cùng vợ là bà Trần Kim Anh (cùng 59 tuổi). Hai con của vợ chồng ông Tiên là Trần Kim Hằng (28 tuổi), Trần Quang Toàn (22 tuổi). Và hai người cháu nội, ngoại của ông Tiên là Trần Thanh Vi (8 tuổi), Quách Gia Hy (4 tuổi con của chị Hằng).

The fire, which occurred at 0:15 AM on July 31st at house number 91, Phan Boi Chau Street, Ward 7, Ca Mau City (Ca Mau province), resulted in the deaths of six family members. The victims were Mr. Tran Quang Tien and his wife, Mrs. Tran Kim Anh (both 59 years old). Their two children were Tran Kim Hang (28 years old) and Tran Quang Toan (22 years old). Also killed were Mr. Tien's two grandchildren, Tran Thanh Vi (8 years old) and Quach Gia Hy (4 years old, Mrs. Hang's child).

3. Bomb explosion in Van Phu, Ha Dong

Một người cưa bom khiến bom phát nổ làm 5 người chết, 10 người bị thương và khoảng 250 nhà dân bị hư hỏng, thiệt hại. Vụ việc chấn động xảy ra vào khoảng 15g ngày 19/3 tại đường Lê Trọng Tấn (khu đô thị Văn Phú, Hà Đông).

4. Tragic car fire accident in Binh Thuan.

Ngày 22/5, tại xã Hàm Minh, huyện Hàm Thuận Nam, Bình Thuận, xảy ra vụ tai nạn kinh hoàng giữa 2 xe khách và 1 xe tải. Sau cú đâm liên hoàn, hai xe khách giường nằm và ôtô tải bốc cháy dữ dội khiến hàng chục hành khách mắc kẹt trong xe hoảng loạn kêu cứu. Vụ cháy đã khiến 13 người chết và 36 người bị thương. Đây là vụ cháy xe khủng khiếp nhất trong năm 2016 tại Việt Nam.

5. Fire at an induction cooker store kills 4 people in Ho Chi Minh City.

Rạng sáng 10/6, một vụ cháy lớn đã diễn ra tại số nhà 423 Lũy Bán Bích, phường Hiệp Tân, quận Tân Phú khiến 4 người trong tiệm đồ điện bị chết cháy. Nguyên nhân vụ cháy được xác định là do chập ổ điện cắm phía sau tại tủ lạnh dưới tầng trệt. Đặc biệt, trong số 4 người chết có cặp vợ chồng trẻ sắp sửa cưới đang làm thuê tại đây.

In the early hours of June 10th, a major fire broke out at 423 Luỹ Bán Bích Street, Hiep Tan Ward, Tan Phu District, killing four people inside an electrical appliance shop. The cause of the fire was determined to be a short circuit in the electrical outlet behind the refrigerator on the ground floor. Notably, among the four deceased were a young married couple who were working at the shop and were about to get married.

6. Fire at an air conditioning company kills 4 people.

Rạng sáng 27/6, một vụ cháy nổ xảy ra tại Công ty TNHH TM DV Hiệp Anh Nhất (Đồng Nai) khiến 4 người thân trong gia đình chết tại chỗ. Tại hiện trường, căn nhà bị thiêu rụi hoàn toàn, nhiều đồ đạc trong nhà như tủ lạnh, máy giặt, xe máy, hàng chục bình khí đá… bị cháy đen. Một phần mái tôn, khung sắt bị đổ sập. Thiệt hại ước tính hàng tỉ đồng.

In the early hours of June 27th, a fire and explosion occurred at Hiep Anh Nhat Trading and Service Company Limited (Dong Nai province), killing four family members instantly. At the scene, the house was completely destroyed, and many household items such as refrigerators, washing machines, motorbikes, and dozens of acetylene gas cylinders were charred. Part of the corrugated iron roof and steel frame collapsed. The estimated damage is in the billions of dong.

7. Karaoke bar fire in Hanoi kills 13 people.

Ngày 1/11, trong lúc thợ hàn thi công tháo cánh cửa ra vào ở tầng 2 của 1 quán karaoke trên đường Trần Thái Tông thì xảy ra hỏa hoạn. Đám cháy từ nhà 68 Trần Thái Tông đã lan sang 3 ngôi nhà cùng cao 8 tầng bên cạnh. Vụ cháy đã khiến 13 người chết, nhiều người bị thương cũng như thiêu rụi nhiều tài sản có giá trị.

On November 1st, a fire broke out while welders were removing a door on the second floor of a karaoke bar on Tran Thai Tong Street. The fire, originating at 68 Tran Thai Tong, spread to three adjacent eight-story buildings. The blaze resulted in 13 deaths, numerous injuries, and the destruction of valuable property.

8. Wedding dress shop catches fire, three family members tragically killed.

Gần 3 giờ sáng 4/10, một vụ hỏa hoạn đã thiêu rụi một cửa hàng kinh doanh dịch vụ cưới hỏi tại phường Đông Hưng Thuận, quận 12, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Vụ hỏa hoạn khiến anh Trinh Ngọc Tín, khoảng 35 tuổi cùng vợ và con nhỏ thiệt mạng.

Around 3:00 AM on October 4th, a fire destroyed a wedding service business in Dong Hung Thuan ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. The fire claimed the lives of Mr. Trinh Ngoc Tin, approximately 35 years old, his wife, and their young child.

9. House fire in alleyway kills 6 people.

Vụ cháy mới nhất vừa xảy ra vào rạng sáng 16/12 tại một căn nhà trong hẻm 453 đường Lê Văn Sỹ, P.12, Q.3, TP.HCM khiến 6 người trong một gia đình tử vong, trong đó có 3 cháu bé từ 1 đến 7 tuổi. Lãnh đạo Cảnh sát Phòng cháy chữa cháy TP HCM xác nhận đã có đến 6 người trong một gia đình thiệt mạng và 2 người khác bị thương nặng. Toàn bộ ngôi nhà xảy ra vụ cháy bị thiêu rụi, thiệt hại trong vụ cháy đang được tiến hành thống kê.

10. Gas station catches fire, dozens of motorbikes burned to ashes.

Chiều 16/12, cây xăng TT75 trên đường Quang Trung (quận Gò Vấp, TP.HCM) đột ngột bốc cháy kèm theo những tiếng nổ lớn khiến nhiều người hốt hoảng.

On the afternoon of December 16th, the TT75 gas station on Quang Trung Street (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) suddenly caught fire accompanied by loud explosions, causing panic among many people. Preliminary estimates indicate that 22 motorbikes were completely destroyed and 13 others were scorched. These vehicles mainly belonged to employees and some were brought in by customers for washing. In addition, the entire office building was also destroyed. The fuel tanker, thanks to timely water spraying, only had its rear wheel burned and the fire did not spread to the pump area.
