(Baonghean.vn) - On January 14, which is December 17, Binh Than year, Do Luong district held the 959th death anniversary of Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang.

Uy Minh Vuong – Ly Nhat Quang was the 8th son of King Ly Cong Uan. He was intelligent, studious, virtuous, patriotic and loved his country and people. In 1939, Ly Nhat Quang was appointed by the king to oversee tax collection in Nghe An with the title of “Uy Minh Thai Tu”.

Because of his strictness, integrity, and lack of greed, he was admired by the people of Hoan Chau. In 1041, Ly Nhat Quang was appointed as the governor of Nghe An with the title "Uy Minh Hau Ly Nhat Quang" and granted him the right to "Tiet Viet" (that is, the right to represent the king in deciding all political affairs in Nghe An).

When he was appointed as the district governor, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang chose Bach Ngoc land as his headquarters (ie the three communes of Ngoc, Lam, and Boi today). History books recorded that Uy Minh Vuong was a man of great merit in opening up the people, establishing villages, keeping the border peaceful, fighting foreign invaders; taking care of the economic development of the prosperous Hoan Chau land; expanding and developing many industries.

In 1057, Uy Minh Vuong - Ly Nhat Quang became a saint and became a saint at the foot of Qua Son mountain in Ngoc Son commune, Do Luong district today. The people of Nghe An deeply mourned, remembered and built a temple for him called Qua Son Temple, and burned incense all year round to pray for his protection and blessing for the people.

The temple has a scale of 7 buildings, 40 compartments, Qua Son Temple is one of the 4 sacred temples of Nghe An. In 1999, the Temple was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture.

The ceremony was held solemnly according to traditional rituals and attracted the attention of many local people and people far from home.

Before that, on the evening of December 16th of the lunar calendar, the leaders of Do Luong district and a large number of people held a ceremony to announce the news.
