Britain sets up two 'strike brigades' to counter Putin's military might

Britain will create two super-mobile "strike brigades", designed to "respond to Russian aggression" (if any) using the latest "Armata" tanks and combat vehicles on the "Kurganets" platform.

The brigade will consist of two reconnaissance regiments equipped with combat vehicles on the "Ajax" platform. According to the plans of the British military agency, the first complete unit will be set up before 2020.

The two new brigades will become a mobile reserve, which can be quickly deployed to any part of Europe, from Romania to the Baltic states, Russian media reported. Many experts emphasize that the British army's plans are very strange. "Ajax" are quite good in parades, but they are not suitable for large-scale war operations.

Apparently, as analysts confirm, London authorities needed to demonstrate a timely response to Russia's alleged "military threat", so they came up with this dubious test.

British military intelligence also believes that Russia's latest T-14 Armata tank is the most revolutionary change in tank manufacturing in the past half century.

“It’s no surprise that this tank is causing a stir,” The Sunday Telegraph quoted verbatim from a British Ministry of Defense intelligence report it had access to. British intelligence expressed doubts about Britain’s ability to counter Russia’s latest combat vehicle, and raised a reasonable question: Why doesn’t the British government even plan to develop its own tank capable of countering the T-14 in the next 20 years?

The intelligence agency noted that the report cannot be considered an official statement from the British Ministry of Defense, according to The Sunday Telegraph. The T-14 main battle tank is the only third-generation tank developed after World War II.

The T-14 Armata is the most modern tank of the Russian army today, said to have a very high survival ability against anti-tank weapons.

The T-14 is equipped with the Afganit Active Defense System, which includes two hard and soft defense mechanisms thanks to the advanced mm-wave active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar that helps it monitor its surroundings and warn of missile attacks.

A “soft defense” mechanism is used to fool the missile. As soon as the AESA radar detects an incoming missile, four multispectral smoke grenades are immediately launched, creating a dense smoke screen covering the tank, helping it hide its infrared signals and neutralize radar and laser target designators.

The "hard defense" mechanism is used to neutralize surprise missile attacks. The Afganit radar system automatically controls the turret to point at the missile so that 5 launchers on each side can launch rockets to destroy the approaching target. Although the Afganit system has not been tested in real combat, other hard defense systems such as Israel's Trophy have proven effective in dealing with missiles.
