According to Mr. Luong Thanh Hai, Head of the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee: The distribution of national flags and New Year calendars to households has many important meanings. It aims to foster patriotism, national pride, and a sense of responsibility towards the country among the people in remote and disadvantaged areas. Furthermore, it demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and collective effort in building a prosperous and strong nation and homeland.
Currently, nearly 60,000 national flags have been distributed to households by local authorities. Prior to the Lunar New Year, it was found that most ethnic minority communities in the three districts of Kỳ Sơn, Quế Phong, and Tương Dương, as well as many other districts, had already purchased flags to hang in celebration of the 2017 New Year.
