Late on January 27, Colonel Ngo Xuan Tu, Chief of Chau Thanh District Police, Tien Giang Province, said he had detained Pham Thanh Nhan (born in 1994, residing in Hoa Hung Commune, Cai Be District) to investigate and clarify the act of using force to control another person to have sex and rob property.

That same afternoon, Nhan went to the artificial flower shop of Ms. D.THK in Tan Huong commune, pretending to buy artificial apricot flowers. Seeing Ms. K alone looking after the shop, Nhan restrained Ms. K, used the electric wire of an electric fan to tie Ms. K's hands and feet, used tape to cover her mouth, and had sexual intercourse with her.
However, Nhan said that because Ms. K. begged, he was not able to have sex. Then, Nhan stole Ms. K.'s Ari Blade license plate. In the trunk of the car were 32 million VND, a mobile phone, ATM card, vehicle registration and Ms. K.'s driver's license and then escaped. Later, neighbors discovered it and reported it to the police.
Upon receiving the news, Chau Thanh District Police, Traffic Police Department, and Provincial Police notified the patrol teams.
By the evening of the same day, the working group of Major Huynh Van Mung (Trung Luong Traffic Police Station) along with Captain Nguyen Van Be and Lieutenant Nguyen Hoang Minh (Cai Lay Town Police) discovered Nhan driving Ms. K's car towards Cai Be district, so they stopped him and handed him over to Chau Thanh district police.
