Vietnam sends congratulatory message to new US Secretary of State
On February 2, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Rex Tillerson on the occasion of his official nomination by the US Senate to become the country's Secretary of State.

Previously, according to Reuters, in the voting session at the US Senate on February 1 (US time), former CEO of the US multinational oil and gas corporation Exxon Mobil Rex Tillerson received 56 votes in favor and 43 votes against, officially taking over the position of US Secretary of State from his predecessor John Kerry.
The 56 people who voted in favor of Mr. Rex Tillerson included 52 Republican senators, 3 Democratic senators and 1 independent senator.
All 43 votes against the bill were from Democrats, with only Democratic Senator Chris Coons abstaining.
