Man City to be fined for anti-doping violations

January 28, 2017 07:46

The Etihad Stadium team accepted charges from the English Football Association (FA) for three anti-doping violations within a year.

Following the decision to accept the charges, Man City will have to attend a hearing before an independent commission, which could take place within the next two weeks to determine the club's punishment.

Man City were fined for breaching the club's whereabouts regulation three times in 12 months. This regulation requires clubs to inform the FA of a player's location to facilitate anti-doping testing. Clubs must also provide training times, home addresses or other places where players can stay overnight.

A team is considered to be in breach of the rules if it provides inaccurate or outdated information. Charges will only be filed if there are at least three breaches within 12 months.

According to Goal, cThis time the tie is only related to Man City's behavior and not aimed at any individual. It is likely that the Etihad team willbe subject to financial penalties.

Man City will also only be punished under FA rules, not related to the UK and world anti-doping agencies. These two organizations do not pursue violations of the teams.
