How can I get job offers from 6 different companies before graduating?

Five months before graduation, Suneil Kamath received six job offers, and here are four tips for a successful job hunt.

Start early

Each company has a different recruitment season. Some start around July and August, while others start in May. The summer before graduation, I created an Excel spreadsheet listing my favorite companies. In it, I meticulously detailed the application deadlines and the necessary documents to complete my application.

Connect, connect, and connect!

Meeting the right people can make it easier to get an interview or a job offer. In fact, at most of the companies I received interview invitations from, I had someone I knew there.

If you are sincere enough, people will be willing to talk to you and offer advice and job information.

Reading this far, some of you might be thinking that you don't have that advantage. If so, start building those kinds of relationships. Go out with friends, teachers, alumni, and colleagues. They might know people at the company you're trying to interview with. If you've tried that and it hasn't worked, try sending random emails to your teachers. If you're sincere enough, people will be willing to talk, help, and give you advice.

Quality over quantity

Don't send applications to every company without careful consideration. Take time to reflect on what you truly want to do in the future and only apply to positions and companies that support you in achieving that goal. Furthermore, depending on the position and company you're applying to, tailor your application and resume accordingly. This allows recruiters to understand how your skills and abilities match the job and whether you're a good fit for the company culture.

Expand the options

Every year, the most desirable companies to work for are featured in magazines. And of course, those are great places to apply. However, they aren't the only places offering opportunities to learn, contribute, and gain amazing experiences. Beyond that list, there are many other companies that can provide similar experiences. So, keep your options open.
