89 years old, the world's oldest surgeon performs 4 surgeries a day

Alla Illyinichna Levushkina is a surgeon at a hospital in Ryazan, near Moscow, Russia. She is 89 years old and still performs four surgeries a day.

Alla now lives in a room with her disabled nephew and eight cats. She has been doing this job for 67 years. Although she has performed more than 10,000 surgeries in her life, she has no plans to retire.

“Being a doctor is not just a career, it is a way of life. If I stop working, who will perform the surgeries?” she said.

Alla is believed to be the world’s oldest surgeon. “I don’t have any secrets to longevity. I eat everything, laugh a lot and cry a lot.”
