Real Madrid lost their second consecutive match.

Coach Zidane's team lost 1-2 to Celta Vigo at home at Bernabeu in the first leg of the King's Cup quarter-finals.

After losing to Sevilla in La Liga, Real may not have had time to regain their confidence. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Celta Vigo won right at Bernabeu with the same score of 2-1.

Striker Iago Aspas was the hero for Celta Vigo, opening the scoring in the 64th minute with a shot straight into the middle of the goal, and also setting up Johny to beat goalkeeper Kiko Casilla six minutes later.

Real Madrid have made few changes to their starting line-up since their defeat to Sevilla three days ago. The most notable absence is defender Dani Carvajal, who is suspended and has been replaced by Danilo. Up front, Ronaldo will partner Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio.

While the starting lineup was still almost complete, the biggest lack in Real was precision in their handling. Real continued to press the field like many previous matches but did not create enough pressure on Celta Vigo's goal. With their hasty finishing, Ronaldo and his teammates often hit the opposing defenders and bounced out of the goal, or missed the goal.

Benzema also missed a chance after coming on.

Despite attacking a lot without scoring the first goal, Real paid the price when they fell into Celta Vigo's counter-attack trap. In the opening situation in the 64th minute, Bongonda escaped down the home team's right wing and made a dangerous cross into the penalty area. Receiving the ball from Marcelo's clearance, Iago Aspas calmly finished into the middle of the goal.

The goal that made it 2-0 was also the result of a counter-attack. Aspas once again had the decisive say when he got the ball in midfield and passed it to Johny who ran down and shot low past goalkeeper Casilla.

In between Celta Vigo's two goals was a volley that gave Real a consolation goal. Defender Marcelo was the author of this goal when he received the ball bouncing in the penalty area. Before flying into the net, the ball lightly touched a Celta Vigo player and changed direction, leaving goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez helpless.

Aspas fired into the middle of Real's goal to open the scoring.

With a 1-2 loss in the first leg at home, Real is at a huge disadvantage. In the second leg of the quarter-finals next week, Zidane's team needs to win by two or more goals at home to have the right to decide their ticket to the semi-finals.
