Nghe An: Craft village creates jobs for more than 20,000 workers

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 12, under the chairmanship of Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee listened to and gave opinions on the project to develop economic sectors, craft villages, craft villages, high-quality economic models in agriculture and rural areas associated with new rural construction in the province in the period of 2017-2020.

In recent times, the development of economic sectors, craft villages, craft villages, and high-quality economic models in rural agriculture has achieved certain results. Currently, the whole province has 2,906 cooperatives with over 36,000 participating workers; 596 cooperatives operating in diverse industries in all districts, cities, and towns with over 200,000 members.

The whole province currently has 146 craft villages, creating jobs for 20,000 workers with an average income of 38 million VND/person/year.

Over the past years, the agriculture and rural development sector has built 278 specialized models, integrated models, livestock, aquaculture, and forestry models deployed at 4,663 locations. During the period 2011-2016, 96 models were deployed at 162 locations in 152 communes meeting new rural standards, resulting in an increase of 10-20% in efficiency compared to mass production.

The development of economic components, craft villages, craft villages, and high-quality economic models in agriculture and rural areas contributes to job creation, increasing farmers' income, and contributing to the successful implementation of the new rural construction process.

With the goal of restructuring the agricultural sector, focusing investment resources on production development, job creation, income improvement, and improving all aspects of life for rural residents; contributing to the goal of building a new rural area in a sustainable and effective manner; the Project has outlined the current situation and proposed goals, tasks, and solutions for implementation by 2020.

Specifically, on average, each year the province establishes 40-50 new cooperatives. By 2020, in 103 communes expected to meet the NTM standards, each commune will establish at least 1 cooperative to meet criterion 13 on production organization; each commune will have at least 1 effective economic model contributing to achieving criterion 10 on income and criterion 11 on poverty rate. Each year, at least 5 villages will be recognized, striving to have 160-165 craft villages in the province by 2020 and build more craft villages. After listening to the comments of the departments and branches, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to absorb the comments of the relevant units, update the data on craft villages, craft villages, and cooperatives. Review, supplement, amend and develop new policies to implement the project, focus on completing the project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval at the upcoming meeting.
