The Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) at the Faculty of Philosophy at Oxford University (UK) has frankly suggested that world leaders should join hands and unite to prevent the impending global disaster, including the possibility of humanity being wiped off the Earth.

A team of scientists have closely studied a number of threats to humanity and they believe the time has come to act. Professor Nick Bostrom, who took part in the study, pointed out that the three “most dire” threats are deadly epidemics such as Zika or Ebola, extreme climate change and nuclear war.

Mr. Bostrom's concerns were expressed in a statement issued at the Finnish Embassy in London on February 3.

Professor Sebastian Farquhar of the University of Oxford said the dangers of Ebola and Zika were well known and that controlling pandemics was a global responsibility. Mr Farquhar said that at present, planning was still at the national level and that little attention was paid to the worst-case scenarios that the pathogens could trigger.

Biosecurity expert Piers Millett at the Future of Humanity Institute added: “A recent survey of the views of UK bioweapons technical experts highlighted the need for international attention to identifying and managing research to prepare for serious threats.”

However, according to Nydailynews, this is not the end of the road. The advice given is that if leaders around the world have the same mindset and unite, humanity can completely avoid a global disaster.
