Two best friends 'conquered' second prize in national excellent student competition
(Baonghean) - With the achievement of winning the second prize in the National Excellent Student Contest in Literature in the 2016-2017 school year, two close friends Ho Ngan Hanh and Cao Nguyen Quynh Trang - class 12C1, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted have contributed significantly to improving the school's Literature achievements in the past few school years.
For student Ngan Hanh, her love for Literature was nurtured and nurtured since grade 6. As for Quynh Trang, it was not until grade 9 that she found her passion for this subject. It was also thanks to this love that helped the two classmates at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School determined to pass the entrance exam to the Literature class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, an environment that helped nurture and develop their passion.
To be good at Literature, one needs talent, but besides that, one also needs to practice and cultivate systematically. At the specialized school, with the dedicated teaching and guidance of the homeroom teacher Nguyen Thi Hai Ly, both Ngan Hanh and Quynh Trang have made great progress in their studies.
If in grade 11, Ngan Hanh and Quynh Trang had to stop at the Literature team selection contest, then in grade 12, thanks to their tireless efforts, both of them not only joined the national excellent student competition team but also won second prize.

Recalling the 3-month period of reviewing for the national team exam, both close friends encountered many difficulties with the huge amount of knowledge and the pressure of exams and tests. The review process could probably be described with the two words "hard training". Thanks to the dedicated guidance of teacher Hai Ly, combined with determination, the two friends and other members of the team encouraged and helped each other to overcome that period.
Ngan Hanh confided that her method is to read a lot of books, newspapers, and many types of texts to enrich her knowledge and vocabulary. Ngan Hanh believes that to study Literature well, one must not only know literary works but also grasp the breath of life. Besides, she always carries an inseparable notebook with her to promptly record good sentences and literary ideas that she reads.
In addition to reading many books, Quynh Trang also shared that one of her secrets to learning Literature is to practice writing, practice argumentation, and then ask friends and teachers for comments and guidance. According to both of them, to achieve the achievements they have today, the most important thing is still the self-study and progress of each person.
Commenting on her two favorite students, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Ly, homeroom teacher of class 12C1, who is also responsible for training the provincial team to compete in the national literature competition, said that both Ngan Hanh and Quynh Trang have a talent for literature, are hard-working, obedient, very diligent and persistent.
The results the two students achieved today are completely worthy of the efforts they have put in, not only during the 3 months of preparing for the national gifted student exam but also during their entire learning process since entering Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
Despite their impressive academic achievements, in real life, both girls are very active students. With the advantage of being talented in Literature, Ngan Hanh and Quynh Trang have many times sent their works to collaborate with newspapers in and outside the province in the short story, essay, and readers' perspectives sections. As for Ngan Hanh, in the 2015-2016 school year, she also arranged time to participate in communications work for the program "For the Laughter of Children" organized at SOS Children's Village Vinh.
Although they are close to each other and have walked many paths together since middle school, the two friends have their own dreams. If Quynh Trang wants to go to Law School to become a good lawyer, Ngan Hanh plans to go to Journalism School to continue her dream of becoming a brave female journalist.
And even though they just won a high prize, Ngan Hanh and Quynh Trang both told themselves to try harder, not to rest on their laurels to fulfill their dreams, to repay their parents' upbringing and teachers' guidance.
