According to many opinions, in order to rectify and strengthen the Party, from the Central Committee down to the grassroots branches, every Party member must correct their own shortcomings.

This year, during the Spring Festival of the Year of the Rooster, the entire Party, army, and people of Vietnam celebrate the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Party (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2017). In the atmosphere of celebrating the Party, the spring, and the country's renewal, each of us fondly remembers Uncle Ho, recalls his New Year's greeting poems, and pledges to study and follow his thoughts, ethics, and style.

Beside a pot of yellow apricot blossoms with their delicate buds just beginning to sprout, we chatted with Mr. Phan Minh Tanh, also known as Chin Dao, former Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, who is nearly 70 years old and a Party member. The conversation turned to fond memories from his revolutionary life, with his favorite being being born in the same year as the Party, the Year of the Horse…

Having dedicated his life to the Party, Mr. Chín Đào believes that to develop the country, we need to build unity within the Party and expand the democratic atmosphere in all national activities. Recalling President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the nation, Mr. Chín Đào remembers most vividly the stories that demonstrate the boundless love President Ho Chi Minh always had for the people, always thinking of the people in everything he did. He also affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was not only the founder of our Party but also always cared about the work of building and reforming the Party. This thought is clearly expressed in his Last Will and Testament for future generations; among many instructions, President Ho Chi Minh wrote, "First and foremost, let's talk about the Party"...

With unwavering devotion to the Party, Mr. Phan Minh Tanh expressed his belief: “I see much hope this spring. This time, there are comprehensive resolutions that speak very specifically about what the Party needs to rectify and correct… I see hope if we study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, while simultaneously implementing Central Resolution 4. These two tasks must be linked. Especially, we must rectify the Party, from the Central Committee down to the branches; every Party member must correct themselves to make the Party clean and strong, so that our nation can continue to move forward.”

It can be said that Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building is one of the greatest, most heartfelt, and most fundamental legacies he left to the Party and the nation. Many Party members and cadres still vividly remember his parting words: "Our Party is a ruling party. Every Party member and cadre must truly internalize revolutionary ethics, truly be thrifty, honest, upright, and selfless. We must keep our Party truly clean, and be worthy of being a leader and a truly loyal servant of the people." Imbued with these teachings, generations of Party members have endured hardships and sacrifices, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to the independence and freedom of the nation and the happiness of the people.

Embodying the spirit of a soldier of Uncle Ho, and serving the Party in the duty of protecting the Fatherland, Mr. Dang Xuan Dinh, Chairman of the Veterans Association of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, is deeply impressed by the recent Directives and Resolutions of the Politburo and the Central Committee of the Party, which emphasize the role of leaders in setting an example and leading the way in implementing various movements. The veteran hopes that each leader in the current national development effort will demonstrate the role of a commander who decisively leads to victory in a battle on the battlefield.

"First and foremost, the Party's cadres, from the highest levels, must be the most exemplary in studying the moral example and lifestyle of President Ho Chi Minh. Senior officials should lead by example, and lower-level officials and all citizens should learn from and follow," Mr. Dinh emphasized.

Like Mr. Dang Xuan Dinh, who experienced many stages of the nation's revolutionary struggle, this spring Mr. Nguyen Trong Xuat, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Resistance Tradition Club and former Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Saigon-Gia Dinh Regional Party Committee, is very pleased that the Party has issued the profound Central Resolution No. 4 on Party building and rectification. According to Mr. Xuat, individualism and pragmatic thinking are the biggest causes of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party. However, he is very confident that this Central Resolution No. 4 will create a major change in the work of Party building and rectification because the resolution dares to look directly at the truth, speak the truth, and propose measures to correct these manifestations of degradation.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Xuat affirmed: "In Party building, the first thing to focus on is patriotism – this is the core element. The values that the younger generation learns from the Party's Resolution are love for the country, love for the people, love for humanity; these are the Vietnamese spirit and wisdom. I believe these are great lessons for the younger generation."

Kỹ sư Lê Duy Phúc
Engineer Le Duy Phuc.

Deserving of the trust of previous generations of Party members, engineer Le Duy Phuc, SCADA Team Leader and a young Party member working at the Dispatching Center of the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, who was recently honored as one of the 10 outstanding young citizens of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh, shared: His love for his profession and his spirit of innovation are the foundation and driving force behind his successes. Most notably, his scientific research project "Application of an automation system for switching stations," which was rated excellent by the Vietnam Electricity Group, has contributed to the rapid detection and timely handling of incidents, increased equipment lifespan, reduced power outage time, and improved the reliability of the power system. This initiative has benefited the State by tens of billions of VND.

Regarding his plans for the new spring season, Duy Phuc confided: “Through studying Directive 05 on learning and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of President Ho Chi Minh; and thoroughly understanding the 4th Central Party Resolution on Party building and rectification, I realize that I must live even more simply, harmoniously with colleagues and everyone around me. I must be close to the people, understand the people, and only then can I come up with initiatives to serve the people.”

A new spring has arrived. The Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and spring have always been intertwined with the nation. With political acumen honed over nearly 90 springs, with creativity, innovative thinking, a determination to confront and correct manifestations of decline, and especially with the support of the people, our Party will lead the country through challenges and bring the Vietnamese nation to the shores of glory.
