Vietnamese leaders congratulate President Trump on his inauguration

President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and two other Vietnamese leaders sent congratulatory messages to US President Donald Trump on his inauguration.

President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binhcongratulatory messageDonald Trump and Mike Pence, according to a statement from the State Department.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence were inaugurated in Washington, DC on January 20, becoming45th President and 48th Vice President of the United States.

The leaders of the State and Government of Vietnam wish President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the new US government much success for the happiness and prosperity of the people, and positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the world.

The leaders of the State and Government of Vietnam believe that Vietnam and the US are facing a great opportunity to strengthen and deepen cooperation in all areas within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership, based on the principles of respecting international law, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and each other's political institutions.

The leaders of the State and Government of Vietnam expressed their desire to cooperate closely with the US, promote cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - US, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and other regional mechanisms for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
