Kim Jong-un's brother's last words before death

Malaysian police said before he died, the brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told airport reception that someone grabbed him from behind and threw liquid in his face.

Malaysian police confirmed the death of Kim Jong-nam today. Fadzil Ahmat, head of the Selangor state criminal investigation department, said the incident occurred around 9am on February 13, while the victim was preparing to board a 10am flight at Kuala Lumpur airport, Malaysia to Macau, China.

"He told the receptionist at the departure hall that someone grabbed him from behind and threw a liquid in his face," Star Online quoted Mr Ahmat as saying. "He asked the receptionist for help and was immediately taken to the airport medical room. He had a severe headache and felt like he was about to die."

At the medical room, the victim had a mild seizure.

"He was taken on a stretcher and died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital," Ahmat said. Police will investigate Kim Jong-nam's itinerary during his stay in Malaysia and the people he met.

"We have received a request from the North Korean embassy to receive the body. However, we will conduct an autopsy before returning it to the embassy," Ahmat said.

An autopsy will be conducted today. Media reports say police are searching for at least two women believed to be involved in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam. South Korea's TV Chosun reported that Kim was assassinated by two North Korean agents with poisoned needles.

Kim Jong-nam, 45, is the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. He was once considered to be the official successor but lost the trust of his father, Kim Jong-il, when he was arrested at a Japanese airport using a fake passport to visit Disneyland in 2001. He has lived abroad frequently, but mainly in Macau, China.

Kim Jong-nam has repeatedly stated that he is not interested in becoming the leader of North Korea.

"Personally, I am opposed to the third generation continuing to lead," he told Japan's Asahi TV in 2010, before his younger brother Kim Jong-un took over.
