(Baonghean.vn) - As reported, at 5:00 a.m. on January 18, at the Port of Region 3 of the Navy (Son Tra District, Da Nang City), a delegation of officers from the Command of Region III, Navy led by Colonel Nguyen Duc Nam, Deputy Commander of the Region, began a visit to wish a Happy New Year to officers, soldiers and people living, working, studying and working on the islands: Con Co (Quang Tri), Ly Son (Quang Ngai). By 1:00 p.m. on January 18, the delegation had arrived at Con Co Island (Quang Tri).

Upon arriving on the island, the delegation offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Con Co Island Heroes Memorial.

Next, the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, police, military, border guards of the district and people on the island.

On behalf of the leaders of Con Co island district, comrade Nguyen Van Thanh - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council reported on the socio-economic development as well as national defense and security work of the island district in 2016.

Accordingly, in the past year, the Party Committee, army and people of the island district have achieved many achievements in all aspects of work. The district's economic targets have all fulfilled the plan assigned by the province. The lives of cadres, soldiers and people have been increasingly improved. However, the district still faces many difficulties, especially the lack of national grid electricity.

At the places he visited, Colonel Nguyen Duc Nam praised the achievements of the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of Con Co district in the past year. At the same time, he hoped that the Party Committee, government and armed forces would continue to excellently complete the assigned tasks, while taking care of the material and spiritual life of the people on the island. He affirmed that this is also an extremely important political task, contributing to maintaining national defense and security in the remote islands of the Fatherland.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Regional Command directly inspected, grasped the situation and wished a happy New Year to the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 540, Regiment 351.

On behalf of the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 540, Captain Nguyen Ngoc Thai, Station Chief, thanked the regional leaders for their attention in taking care of the material and spiritual lives of the officers and soldiers, especially at a time when the whole nation is preparing to enter the new year of Dinh Dau 2017.

At the same time, report to the leaders of the Region on the preparations for officers, soldiers and people on the island to celebrate Tet in a joyful, safe and economical manner; always be proactive and ready to complete well the tasks assigned by superiors.

As planned, on the evening of January 18, the delegation will leave Con Co Island, continuing their journey to visit and wish a Happy New Year to officers, soldiers and people of Ly Son Island District (Quang Ngai). It is expected that at around 10am on January 19, the delegation will arrive in Ly Son to carry out their mission.
