After ringing the doorbell, the woman stepped back and signaled to her accomplices. A moment later, the homeowner opened the door, a dog came out, and he stood at the door talking to the woman. Deputy Sheriff Roger Schoolcraft said the woman wanted to "use the homeowner's phone."

"While he was talking to her, three of his accomplices rushed in. The homeowner saw them and slammed the door shut, locking it from the inside," Schoolcraft said.

The three men, armed with pistols and rifles, tried to force open the door. However, after realizing they could not enter the house because of the safety lock inside, they hurriedly got into the car and fled.

The homeowner did not know the attackers. The suspects were all young men, around 20 years old. The incident happened on February 2, but to date, the police have not arrested the suspects and have not revealed any speculation about why they chose this house to rob.
