(Baonghean.vn) - Dien Chau district has successfully developed 7 single-crop rice fields in the communes of Dien Lien, Dien Dong, Dien Tan, Dien Loc, Dien Hanh, Dien Tan, and Dien Loc, yielding high productivity and economic efficiency.

Mr. Le The Hieu, Head of the Agriculture Department of Dien Chau district, said: Following the success of the spring and summer-autumn crops of 2016 with 7 fields of single rice varieties, in the spring of 2017, Dien Chau continued to produce fields of single rice varieties including Bac Thom 7 in Dien Phu, ADI 30 in Dien Lien, VTN6 in Dien Dong, and Thai Xuyen 111 in Dien Loc.

Cultivating a single rice variety requires simultaneous production and more meticulous care to prevent cross-pollination; however, it fetches a higher price when sold because companies purchase the entire crop.

Companies that purchase and guarantee the sale of products for farmers in Dien Chau include: Agricultural Supplies Company, Southern Seed Company, Thai Binh Seed Company, etc.

Besides rice, Dien Chau also grows cantaloupe in greenhouses in Dien Thanh commune, yielding 2.8 tons in the first season, generating revenue of approximately 140 million VND and a profit of over 100 million VND.
