According to Mr. Thiet, last night (February 18th), taking advantage of the weekend, he and his group of friends went to the area along the Nha Be River, near Phu Xuan 2 Bridge (Phu My Ward, District 7) to fish for recreation.

“After casting my line for about 5 minutes, I was surprised to see a fish bite, so I quickly pulled it up. I was overjoyed to discover it was a golden snapper, weighing over 2kg,” Thiet recounted.

According to Mr. Thiet, the golden snapper is currently frozen for preservation, and several people have inquired about buying it, but he hasn't decided to sell it yet.

The golden croaker, scientifically known as Otolithoides biauritus, is known to be very rare and highly valuable in the field of medicine. Its swim bladder is used as an organic material to produce absorbable sutures, which self-destruct after surgery, causing no tissue damage and minimizing the risk of infection, hence its high price.
