After some newspapers reported the news, the Provincial People's Committee continued to direct verification and clarification, but so far no new information has been discovered.

Accordingly, Sen Hoang Giang Company Limited - where it was discovered to be raising red lobsters - an alien species on the import ban list of the Directorate of Fisheries (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), was granted an operating license by the provincial Department of Planning and Investment on September 1, 2016.

Mr. Tran Van Hoa, the company's director, signed a contract to lease land from the people, with an area of 23 hectares, to test the Ha Coi - Quang Ninh lotus variety.

Initially, the company rented and compensated 1 hectare of rice land but only planted a trial on an area of about 0.3 hectares. At first, the lotus grew well, but by the time of inspection, all the lotus had died. Before that, Mr. Hoa had applied for permission to plant a trial of "lotus shoots for clean vegetables" and was approved by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

"The experimental lotus planting project of Hoang Giang Company is being carried out in accordance with prescribed procedures. The Provincial People's Committee will continue to direct and monitor the testing process, and ensure the origin of the lotus planted by the company. If any violations are detected, they will be handled in accordance with the law," said a statement from the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee.

Regarding the information that has received the most attention and caused a stir recently, which is Mr. Hoa raising red lobsters (freshwater lobsters), after receiving a report from the People's Committee of Tan Hoi Trung commune (Cao Lanh district), on December 1, 2016, the provincial Department of Fisheries sent officials to the area to supervise and invited Mr. Hoa to work at the Cao Lanh district Fisheries station.

Here, Mr. Hoa admitted to bringing 4kg (about 120 lobsters) from Hanoi. During the transportation, about 1kg was lost before being released for farming.

“From December 6-10, 2016, the Department coordinated with the District Police, the Commune People's Committee, local people and Mr. Tran Van Hoa to capture and destroy 107 red lobsters; at the same time, pesticides were sprayed directly into the pond to completely destroy them. Up to now, through inspection, no more of this creature has been discovered in the environment,” the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee affirmed.

The province will continue to direct and monitor this process, resolutely not allowing the spread of alien organisms that are harmful to the environment.

Regarding the developments regarding Chinese people at the company, according to the report of Cao Lanh District Police, there were 3 Chinese people who came to Mr. Hoa's company, used tourist visas and left the locality since mid-December 2016.

Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee said it will continue to direct and monitor the project implementation and handle arising issues according to its authority.
