Thousands of fishermen participate in the fishing festival in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - The spiritual highlight of the annual Con Temple festival is the fishing ceremony, which is performed with many extremely sacred rituals. This is also the most anticipated part of the ceremony by fishermen and tourists from all over the world during each Con Temple festival.

With the characteristics of 4 coastal communes and wards, a coastline of nearly 18 km, with nearly 1,000 fishing vessels at sea, 8,000 direct workers, in recent years, the fishing industry in Hoang Mai has developed strongly, promoting the development of many other groups and industries such as shipbuilding, processing, ice, mechanics... bringing in hundreds of billions of VND in income. Therefore, praying for fish has become the most important part of the annual Con Temple festival in Hoang Mai.

To perform this ritual, from early morning on the 21st day of the first lunar month, local people and tourists joined the processions of palanquins, elephants, horses, etc. moving from Con Temple by road.

From Con Lach wharf, many splendidly decorated fishing boats move to the south of Quynh Phuong beach. When the two processions meet, the fishing ceremony is performed. Under the sacred harmony of the earth, sky and sea, the Con Temple ritual team offers many artifacts made by the people themselves to pray for favorable weather and wind; pray for a year of calm weather, calm seas, and a good catch of seafood.
