A major turning point in the Vietnamese revolution.

On February 3, 1930, under the chairmanship of President Ho Chi Minh, the three communist organizations in Vietnam at that time (the Indochinese Communist Party, the Annam Communist Party, and the Indochinese Communist League) held a unification conference to form a single party named the Communist Party of Vietnam.

With this momentous historical event, the Communist Party of Vietnam was officially established. From this point on, our country's revolution had a correct line. The Communist Party of Vietnam truly became the leader and organizer of all the victories of our revolution. This was an inevitable development of history, the result of the development of the Vietnamese workers' movement and patriotic movement combined with the dissemination of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam.

Over the past 87 years, under the leadership of the Party, our people have achieved great feats. The nine-year resistance war against French colonial aggression ended with the earth-shattering victory at Dien Bien Phu. After the French colonialists withdrew, the US imperialists replaced them and directly invaded our country.

Our Party led the country in implementing two revolutionary strategies: building socialism, firmly protecting the great rear base in the North, and fighting for the liberation of the South, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in the Spring of 1975, ending 30 years of the liberation war and reunifying the country.

The reform process initiated and led by our Party from the Sixth National Congress to the present day is a great creative undertaking. After more than 30 years of persistent struggle, overcoming countless difficulties and challenges, the reform process has achieved tremendous and historically significant victories. The face of the country has undergone fundamental and comprehensive changes.

While the average annual GDP growth rate was only 4.4% during the initial period of reform (1986-1990), it doubled to 8.2% per year during the period 1991-1995; despite the impact of the regional financial crisis (1997-1999), GDP maintained an average growth rate of 7.6% per year during the period 1996-2000; GDP grew by an average of 7.34% during the period 2001-2005; and GDP reached 7% per year during the period 2006-2010.

In the following years, due to the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis and the 2010 sovereign debt crisis, Vietnam's GDP growth rate slowed down from 2011 to 2015 but still reached 5.9% per year, a high rate compared to the region and the world. In 2016, GDP increased by 6.21%.

Over the past 30 years, under the leadership of the Party, the cause of industrialization, modernization, and the development of a socialist-oriented market economy has been accelerated. People's lives have improved significantly. The political system and the national unity bloc have been consolidated and strengthened. Political and social stability has been maintained. National defense and security have been upheld. Our country's position in the international arena has continuously improved. The overall strength of the nation has increased considerably, creating a new momentum and strength for the country to continue moving forward with promising prospects.

The leading factor that determined all the victories of the Vietnamese revolution.

The rich experience of the Vietnamese revolution over the past 87 years has proven that the correct and wise leadership of the Party is the primary factor determining all the victories of our country's revolution. In Vietnam, there is no other political force besides the Communist Party of Vietnam that possesses the courage, wisdom, experience, prestige, and ability to lead the country through all difficulties and arduous challenges to bring the nation to the shores of glory.

And it is precisely in this process that our Party has accumulated and drawn many valuable lessons, forging glorious traditions that today we have the responsibility to strive to preserve and promote.

It is a tradition of unwavering loyalty to the interests of the nation and the class, steadfastly pursuing the goal and ideal of national independence linked with socialism on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought.

It is a tradition of maintaining independence and self-reliance in its policies; firmly grasping, applying, and creatively developing Marxism-Leninism, and drawing on international experience to formulate correct policies and effectively organize the implementation of revolutionary tasks.

That is a tradition of close, inseparable ties between the Party and the people, always taking serving the people as its raison d'être and goal.

It is a tradition of solidarity, unity, and strict organization and discipline based on the principles of democratic centralism, self-criticism, criticism, and comradely love.

It is a tradition of loyal and pure international solidarity based on lofty principles and goals. This is the solid foundation upon which our Party has formulated and successfully implemented a correct foreign policy throughout various periods, maximizing the combination of national strength with the strength of the times, and continuously advancing the Vietnamese revolution.

Looking back at the glorious struggle of our Party over the past 87 years, we cherish the past even more, treasure and preserve the achievements of the revolution, and are even more deeply grateful for the immeasurable contributions of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh; we understand, trust, and are even more proud of our nation - a heroic, intelligent, and creative nation; and we are proud of our Party - the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, which has wholeheartedly fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.

Throughout its 87-year history, the Party has steered the Vietnamese revolutionary ship through numerous difficulties and challenges. In this new era of strong integration, the people trust that the Party will continue to steadfastly lead the country to successfully implement the cause of reform and international integration.
