Man Utd's unbeaten streak ended when they reached the final of the English League Cup

Losing 1-2 at Hull City in the second leg of the semi-final, Mourinho and his team still won 3-2 on aggregate and will compete for the Cup with Southampton.

Goals: Huddlestone pen 35, Niasse 85 - Pogba 66.

Winning 2-0 from the first leg, Mourinho made five changes to the starting lineup when visiting Hull City in the second leg yesterday, January 26. Man Utd therefore could not impose the game at KCOM Stadium. Post-match statistics showed that Pogba and his teammates only kept the ball 46% of the time, half of the opponent's shooting stats (6 compared to 14) and shots on target (2 compared to 5).

With such a dominant game, Hull City deserved to open the score in the 35th minute. In a set piece situation, Marcos Rojo pulled Harry Maguire's shirt and the home team was awarded a penalty. Tom Huddlestone made no mistake when facing De Gea.

The goal gave Hull City, who are languishing in 19th place in the Premier League, a huge boost in confidence. But their hopes of reaching a second domestic cup final in their 113-year history were dealt a blow in the 66th minute. A Hull City defender tried to block Ibrahimovic's pass to Rashford, but accidentally gave the ball to Pogba, who raced down the pitch and finished with one touch through a forest of legs to level the score at 1-1.

The game became very exciting after this equalizer. Both sides had scoring chances that were denied by the goalpost. For Man Utd, Rojo headed against the crossbar, while Oumar Niasse of the home team hit the post. It was not until the end of the match, in the 85th minute, that Hull City scored another goal, when Niasse finished Meyler's cross from close range, beating De Gea.

But that goal from Niasse only helped Hull City to a 2-1 victory to console the home fans, but in the end, they still lost 2-3. For Man Utd, the defeat at KCOM means that their unbeaten streak that had lasted for 17 matches in all competitions was broken. But in return, the opportunity to win the Cup is wide open before Mourinho and his team.

Mourinho can therefore be on par with two legends Brian Clough and Alex Ferguson with four English League Cup wins, if he and Man Utd beat Southampton in the match at Wembley on February 26.
