Djokovic’s poor form continues. Since winning the French Open last year, Djokovic has been on a losing streak in tournaments. Most recently, at the Australian Open, the former world No. 1 lost early in the second round to little-known Denis Istomin.

Returning to the tournament in Mexico to prepare for the upcoming campaign to defend two consecutive titles in Indian Wells and Miami, the Serbian tennis player has not been able to regain the form that has helped him dominate the world tennis scene in recent times. Right in the second round, Djokovic struggled to overcome Del Potro.

In the quarterfinals, Djokovic could not make any comeback to overcome a very good Kyrgios. In this match, both players created a very balanced game and neither player could break the other's serve, forcing the first set to enter a nerve-wracking tie-break. In this set, Kyrgios played more explosively and was the winner with a tie-break score of 11/9.

The second set was still very even. However, Kyrgios, in a very good match day, took advantage of a great opportunity to break Djokovic's serve in the 12th game and won 7/5 in this set to eliminate Djokovic after 1 hour and 47 minutes of play.

With this victory, Kyrgios has booked his place in the semi-finals and his next opponent will be Sam Querrey (USA, world No. 40), who also surprisingly defeated No. 4 seed Dominic Thiem (Austria) with a score of 2-0 (6/1, 7/5). The remaining semi-final will be the confrontation between Rafael Nadal (Spain, 2) and Marin Cilic (Croatia, 3).

Meanwhile, at the Dubai tournament, world No. 1 Andy Murray (UK) had a spectacular comeback to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber (Germany, world No. 29) with a score of 2-1 (6/7, 7/6, 6/1) after 2 hours and 54 minutes. In the second set, Murray was at risk of being eliminated 5 times but won the set with a tie-break score of 20/18 after more than 30 minutes of play.

With this win, Murray will meet French seventh seed Lucas Pouille in the semi-finals. The other semi-final of the tournament will be between Fernando Verdasco (Spain, world No. 35) and Robin Haase (Netherlands, world No. 66).
