Not only buying CZ 805 assault rifles, Vietnam is also the largest buyer of weapons from the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic has just released its 2013 defense export report, emphasizing that Vietnam is the number 1 buyer.

The Czech Republic's exports of weapons and military equipment abroad in 2013 increased by 6% (compared to 2012) to $385 million, Ctk.cz reported on July 9, citing the annual report on monitoring the country's exports of military equipment and small arms.

Accordingly, in 2013, the Czech Republic exported a total of 67,300 pistols and revolvers, over 10,000 light machine guns, 142 heavy machine guns, 32,500 automatic rifles, 11 tanks, 3 L-39ZO light combat/training aircraft and 5 armored vehicles.

Notably, in the recent report, the Czech Republic also emphasized that Vietnam was their largest arms export market in 2013. Of which, Hanoi purchased from Prague weapons and military equipment worth about 58.3 million USD, including mainly automatic rifles, pistols and revolvers.

Although there is no exact time, it is very likely that the CZ 805 A1 Vietnam purchased from the Czech Republic originated from contracts during this period. The gun uses a gas-operated, hand-operated loading mechanism with a rotating bolt.

The safety lock button is also the fire mode selector button, placed so that it can be controlled from both sides of the gun. The gun has an effective range of 500m, and a detachable magazine of 20, 30 or more rounds depending on mission requirements.

With modern design, high customization ability, and stable operation, CZ 805 is considered the best rifle model currently in the Vietnam military shooting team.

Other important arms import customers of the Czech Republic are the United States (with exports worth 38 million USD) and Egypt (about 32.6 million USD). Along with the supply of weapons and military equipment, in 2013, the Czech Republic also approved more than 1,100 arms export licenses for foreign customers.

As for the civilian arms market such as hunting guns and ammunition, the country has also sold large quantities, with buyers mainly coming from the US. In recent years, the field of military-technical cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic has been developing strongly.

Typically, we have ordered a large amount of advanced weapons from Prague such as the Vera-E passive radar system to detect stealth aircraft, upgraded a series of P-18 radar systems, as well as negotiated to buy a number of L-410 short-range transport aircraft.

In April 2012, during his visit to Hanoi, Czech Defense Minister Alexandr Vondra proposed selling weapons, especially high-tech ones, to Vietnam. In addition, Mr. Vondra also assessed that Vietnam is a 'potentially rich' market for Czech weapons manufacturing enterprises.

According to Mr. Vondra, Czech companies can participate strongly in the modernization of the Vietnamese air force, which he said already owns 20 versions of the L-39 training aircraft and many Czech-made armored vehicles.
