Vinh City plans to build more schools, revoke licenses of unqualified schools

(Baonghean.vn) – According to forecasts, by 2020, the student population in Vinh city will increase sharply. Vinh city plans to build more schools to ensure the rights and environment for children.

Specifically, in the 2017-2018 school year, it is expected to increase by 7,300 students to grade 1 and in the 2018-2019 school year, it will increase by 9,300 students; correspondingly, it is necessary to add 3 primary schools and 4 secondary schools.

For preschools, currently, 80% of preschool children and 30% of nursery schools are attracted to school. If 90% of preschool children and 40% of nursery schools are attracted to class, there will need to be 5 more preschools.

Currently, the city is planning to build 2 kindergartens and 3 public primary schools; at the same time, it continues to attract and create conditions for investors to build and open new non-public schools.

Mr. Thai Khac Tan - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh City affirmed: For schools that do not ensure quality and safety for children, the Department will send a document requesting investors to continue investing and upgrading facilities. On the contrary, if they do not meet the requirements according to regulations, the Department will advise the City People's Committee to withdraw the operating license.

Regarding financial activities in non-public schools, the Head of the City Department of Education and Training proposed a solution to strengthen inspection, supervision and require business owners to be transparent in their finances.

The working program of the Culture - Society Committee, Provincial People's Council for the Department of Education - Training of Vinh city on the afternoon of March 6, after directly surveying the reality at a number of kindergartens, high schools and general schools of many levels in Vinh city, proposed many issues that need attention.

That is to strengthen guidance and inspection of the curriculum framework and childcare in non-public schools, ensuring the quality of these schools. Organize a review of the network of schools at all levels, ensuring reasonable attraction of new investment, avoiding widespread opening or concentration in certain areas. Coordinate with the provincial Labor Confederation, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and the provincial Social Insurance to inspect and remove difficulties and obstacles for schools, fully and correctly implement policies for workers in non-public schools. Strengthen supervision to ensure food safety and hygiene, quality of meals for children; provide professional and financial training for non-public schools.
