Pick-up trucks have many practical functions and are also affordable. Many car manufacturers with large market shares such as Toyota and Ford have popular pickup models and it seems that the pickup segment is not for luxury brands.

Some models like the Escalade EXT or Lincoln Blackwood have short lifespans while models in the gestation stage still have an open possibility of success when they appear on the market.

1. Cadillac Escalade EXT

The Cadillac Escalade EXT debuted in 2002. Based on the Chevy Avalanche platform, the Escalade EXT featured a small cabin instead of a long roof, allowing for more cargo space. It was powered by a 6.0L V8 engine.

At the time of its discontinuation in 2013, the Escalade EXT was one of the slowest-selling vehicles in the US, with only 1,972 units sold.

2. Lincoln Blackwood & Mark LT

The Blackwood was the first pickup truck from the Lincoln brand. Due to low sales, this model only lasted for a little over a year in the US and Mexican markets.

Lincoln replaced the Blackwood with another pickup, the Mark LT, in 2005. Based on the Ford F-150 platform, the Mark LT had a 5.4L V8 engine that produced 300 horsepower.

The Mark LT shared the same fate as the Blackwood when it was discontinued in the US in 2008 and is now only sold in Mexico.

3. Lamborghini LM002

Lamborghini is famous for its world-class sports cars and supercars. However, the company also launched a pickup truck, the LM002, between 1986 and 1993. The car used a V12 engine combined with a 5-speed manual transmission.

During its existence, the Lamborghini LM002 also sold 328 units. The LM002 is also the predecessor of the much-awaited SUV, the Lamborghini Urus.

4. Ranger Rover by Startech

The pickup version of the luxury Ranger Rover, tuned by Brabus, was launched a few years ago. The car still maintains the wheelbase and overall length of the SUV line, but the roof of the rear seats is cut away to create a luggage compartment.

With the help of Brabus, the Ranger Rover pickup truck version attracts many Arab customers.

5. Mercedes-Benz X-Class

The pickup truck market will be more interesting in the coming time when Mercedes-Benz introduces the X-Class. Based on the Nissan Navara platform, the X-Class promises to have many differences compared to the vehicle line from its Japanese partner.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is expected to launch later this year, but users do not expect this to be the last pickup truck model of the German luxury car brand.
