Special performances at the Sing My Song final

Two days before the Sing My Song final on the evening of January 22nd, the contestants revealed many interesting details about the songs they would be performing.

After two rounds of recording, songwriting, and competition, the television program Sing My Song – The Best Song has determined 9 outstanding contestants from 4 teams to advance to the final round.

True to the show's name, on this crucial night, they will only have one performance to introduce their favorite song to the audience.

Accordingly, the 9 contestants were divided into 2 groups to perform. After determining the 2 contestants with the highest audience votes, the 31-member advisory board will decide who will be crowned champion.

Before the big moment, the contestants didn't hesitate to reveal a little about the brainchild they had painstakingly invested in over the past period. Surprisingly and quite interestingly, many of them chose a risky path with new themes and styles instead of opting for a safe route that would please the majority.

Rich in variety, from musicals and rock to ballads.

As contestant Hoang Dung from Giang Son's team shared, Sing My Song is the best opportunity for him to freely express his individuality and adventurous style in songwriting.

This is something the young man didn't have the chance to showcase when he participated in The Voice season 3 previously.

With this mindset, Hoang Dung decided to choose the musical theater genre and a theme rarely touched upon before, "Migration," to incorporate into the song he would present in the final night.

"While on The Voice I was often confined to ballad music, this time I've been able to show the audience what else I can do. If in round 1 I presented an R&B song, in round two it was contemporary folk, then the next song will be in the musical theater genre."

"The theme 'Migration' has a community-oriented feel, addressing the struggles and hardships of people from small towns and rural areas who move to big cities to make a living. This is a topic that few people address, but it fascinates me," Hoàng Dũng shared.

Currently, Hoang Dung's song is about 80% complete, with both the music and lyrics satisfactory. In the remaining time, he will further refine the performance aspect.

Promising to spring a surprise no less impressive than Giáng Son's student is Cao Bá Hưng, the seventh-generation descendant of the poet Cao Bá Quát.

The 19-year-old, who had focused on singing and playing musical instruments in the previous two rounds, revealed this time that he will showcase his performance skills and electrify the stage in a performance tailored to his age.

Cao Bá Hưng revealed that the song, which focuses on the romantic feelings of adolescence, was inspired by his own story.

But that's not all; while "Tuong Tu" and "Kieu" were deeply rooted in folk music, this time Duc Tri's student will present a more modern song, blending rock with traditional folk elements.

For a 19-year-old hot boy with a gentle and romantic appearance, choosing this genre of music is clearly not a simple decision.

As the exam day approached, Cao Bá Hưng was experiencing health issues, including a sore throat and hoarseness. However, the young man stated that this would not affect his performance.

Cao Bá Hưng's song for the next competition night will be arranged and produced by coach Đức Trí.

Another contestant considered a strong contender for a high position in the final round is "the Chí Phèo boy," Bùi Công Nam. A member of Nguyễn Hải Phong's team revealed that his final performance in the competition will be "more playful, satirical, uplifting, and explosive."

His teammate, Phan Mạnh Quỳnh, also revealed, "The song is easy to listen to in the beginning, but it becomes more distinctive in the chorus. This is one of my favorite ballads."

Romantic love remains a broad and multifaceted theme, making it a popular choice among contestants. Besides Cao Bá Hưng, Bùi Công Nam, and Phan Mạnh Quỳnh, this theme was also incorporated into their works by Thảo Nhi (Giáng Son's team) and Lê Thiện Hiếu (Lê Minh Sơn's team).

The result doesn't matter.

That's the assertion of the top 9 contestants of Sing My Song; instead, they believe that the ultimate goal is for the song to be well-received by the audience.

Truong Thao Nhi shared: “I really want to showcase many aspects of myself, and this song will continue to show a different Truong Thao Nhi. The melody may not be very catchy for everyone, but I believe that after songs like 'Self-Reflection at 25' or 'Tiny Seeds,' this new song will help the audience recognize me among the many other contestants.”

For Hoàng Dũng, success is when a segment of the audience likes and understands his songs. According to him, winning the championship depends on many factors beyond his control, so he has a very relaxed mindset and doesn't care much about the result.

Khác với 8 thí sinh còn lại, Thiện Hiếu mang tâm lý chiến đấu cho cả team Lê Minh Sơn.
Unlike the other eight contestants, Thien Hieu brought a fighting spirit to Le Minh Son's team.

Le Thien Hieu is a special case, as he is the only contestant from Le Minh Son's team to reach the final round. Therefore, the transgender man said that his mindset now is no longer that of a contestant, but rather a fighter for his teammates.

Therefore, the singer of "Ông bà anh" is one of the rare contestants who will present a song that is both personal and representative of Lê Minh Sơn's style. Meanwhile, the remaining contestants are all focusing on showcasing their own unique identities.

Thus, with these limited initial revelations, the Sing My Song final promises to be high-quality, engaging, and equally thrilling, with a winner selection method completely different from other competitions.
