Trump: Not sure if he gets along with Putin or not

(Baonghean.vn) - According to TASS, US President Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News affirmed that he has "respect" for Russian President Vladimir Putin but "does not know" whether he gets along with the Russian leader or not.

Asked if he respected President Putin, Trump replied: “I respect him very much,” but added that that did not mean the two would have a good relationship.

“I respect a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to have a good relationship with him,” Trump said. “He’s the leader of Russia. I think having a good relationship with Russia is better than not having a good relationship.”

“And if Russia helps us in our fight against ISIS, which is a tough fight, and Islamic terrorism all over the world, that’s a good thing,” the US leader added. “Will I have a good relationship with him? I don’t know.”

Speaking about Western accusations against Russia and its leadership, Trump said: “So what do you think? Is our America innocent?”

After being sworn in as US President last month, Trump had a phone call with Russian leader Putin on January 28. According to the Kremlin, the conversation took place in a positive and business-like atmosphere.
