Young man used knife to slash police captain

At around 10:30 a.m. on February 17, upon receiving a report from a trader at a market in Ha Tinh City that a young man was cursing and threatening traders, the Nam Ha Ward Police, Ha Tinh City, arrived to stop him.

Discovering the police force, the young man ran to the iron shop to steal a knife about 40cm long and fought back against the police force. During the process of approaching and arresting the man, he used the knife to slash and injure Captain Nguyen Thanh Chuong in the shoulder and leg.

The police identified the troublemaker as Dau Duc Hoang (37 years old, residing in Tan Giang ward, Ha Tinh city), who had repeatedly harassed the traders at the market. According to a trader at the market, because Hoang often drank alcohol and showed signs of mental illness, he repeatedly came to the market to harass and threaten the traders there.

Authorities have started to file and investigate the case.
