Important principles when applying to military schools in 2017

The Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense has just announced information on the subject combinations for admission and the principles for admission to military universities, academies and colleges in 2017.

Candidates must register for admission to their first choice (highest choice) into the military university or college training system at the Military school where they submitted their preliminary application.

Subject combination for admission, receiving application for university and college admissionmilitary in 2017 as follows:

Admission subject combination:

Military Medical Academy enrolls students according to the admission combination B00 and A00;

Border Guard Academy enrolls students according to the admission combination C00 and A01;

Military Science Academy enrolls students according to the admission combinations D01, D02, D04 and A00, A01;

The Political Officer School recruits students based on the admission combinations C00, A00 and D01;

Academies: Military Engineering, Logistics, Air Defense - Air Force, and Officer schools: Information, Engineering, Special Forces, Military Engineering (Vin - Hem Pich) recruit students according to the admission combination A00 and A01;

Academies: Navy and Officer Schools: Army 1, Army 2, Air Force, Artillery, Tank - Armor, Chemical Department recruit students according to the A00 admission combination.

Register for military college and university entrance exam:

For round 1 admission:Candidates must register for admission to the first choice (highest choice) for the military university and college training system at the military school that submitted the preliminary application; for the remaining choices, candidates register for schools outside the military or the civilian system of schools within the military. Military academies and schools only consider admission to the military university and college training system for candidates who register for admission to the first choice (highest choice) at the school that submitted the preliminary application;

Candidates who failed their first choice(highest wish) to enter military academies and schools, will be considered for admission to subsequent wishes to non-military schools or civilian systems of military schools in order of priority of the wishes of candidates registered for admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Principles of admission to military universities and colleges

Based on the total exam score of the candidate, including the total score of the exams/subjects on a 10-point scale for each exam/subject of each admission group and rounded to 0.25 (schools with regulations on main exams/subjects, main exams/subjects are multiplied by a coefficient of 2 and converted according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training) and priority points; schools consider admission according to the candidate's registered major; admission is conducted from candidates with the highest total exam score down to the quota.

In case of admission up to a certain score level, there are still quotas, but the number of candidates with the same score is higher than the number of remaining quotas, admission will be conducted according to the following sub-criteria:

Criterion 1:

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Literature, History, Geography, candidates with higher Literature scores will be admitted;

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry and Math, Physics, English, candidates with higher Math scores will be admitted;

Additional criteria for some schools:

- For the Military Science Academy: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language (Foreign Language is the main subject with a coefficient of 2), then the candidate with a higher Foreign Language score will be admitted;

- For Military Medical Academy: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Chemistry, Biology, the candidate with a higher score in Biology will be admitted;

- For Political Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, English, the candidate with a higher score in Math will be admitted;

- For Chemical Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, the candidate with a higher Chemistry score will be admitted;

Criterion 2:After considering criterion 1, the school still has quotas, but there are many candidates with the same score and the same criterion 1, then consider criterion 2, as follows:

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Literature, History, Geography, candidates with higher History exam scores will be admitted;

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry and Math, Physics, English, candidates with higher Physics scores will be admitted;

Additional criteria for some schools:

- For the Military Science Academy: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, the candidate with a higher score in Math will be admitted;

- For Military Medical Academy: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Chemistry, Biology, the candidate with a higher score in Math will be admitted;

- For Political Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, English, the candidate with a higher Literature score will be admitted;

- For Chemical Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, the candidate with a higher score in Math will be admitted;

Criterion 3:After considering criterion 2, the school still has quotas, but there are many candidates with the same score, and the same criterion 1 and criterion 2, then consider criterion 3, as follows:

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Literature, History, Geography, candidates with higher Geography exam scores will be admitted;

For schools with a combination of admission subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry and Math, Physics, English, candidates with higher scores in Chemistry or English will be admitted;

Additional criteria for some schools:

- For the Military Science Academy: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, the candidate with a higher Literature score will be admitted;

- For Military Medical Academy: Admission is based on the combination of subjects: Math, Chemistry, Biology, the candidate with the higher Chemistry score will be admitted;

- For Political Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Literature, English, the candidate with a higher English score will be admitted;

- For Chemical Officer School: Admission is based on a combination of subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, the candidate with a higher Physics score will be admitted;

When criterion 3 is still not enough, the Chairman of the School Admissions Council will report to the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense for consideration and decision.
