(Baonghean.vn) - The authorities of Dien Yen commune (Dien Chau district) have confirmed that information about a child abduction incident in the commune is inaccurate. The woman suspected of abducting a child shows signs of mental instability.

Previously, on February 12th, a video clip lasting over 5 minutes appeared on social media showing a woman, approximately 35 years old, wearing a dark sun-protective jacket and with her face covered, being chased by several people. Some repeatedly threatened to throw her into the river, claiming she was wandering around the area with the intention of kidnapping children.

The clip, which was widely shared on social media, served as a warning to parents to pay attention to their children. It garnered tens of thousands of likes and shares, causing widespread anxiety among the public.

Reportedly, the clip was recorded in a field in Hamlet 16, Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District on the afternoon of February 12th. Mr. Duong Manh Hien, Deputy Head of the Dien Yen Commune Police (Dien Chau), said that immediately after the incident occurred, the local authorities arrived and took the woman to the commune's People's Committee office for questioning.

"We checked the woman's belongings and found a bag of items and a bag of medicine inside, but no identification documents whatsoever. She showed signs of mental instability, unable to remember her name or relatives. Only after calming down was she able to recall being from Ninh Binh," Mr. Hien said.

According to Mr. Hien, the woman had previously appeared in Do Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district). The Do Thanh commune police also conducted an investigation and subsequently released her. The incident, as shown in the uploaded video, occurred when the woman reached Dien Yen commune.

Regarding the woman, the head of the Dien Chau District Police confirmed that no child abduction cases had occurred in the area.

Upon investigation, the person who directly chased the woman and filmed the incident was Tran Van Dong (19 years old, residing in Dien Yen commune). Dong was also the one who directly uploaded the video to social media.

On the afternoon of February 13th, when summoned by the police for questioning, Mr. Tran Van Dong admitted that he accidentally encountered the woman in the field and shouted to apprehend her because she resembled the person in the "Suspicious Woman Kidnapping" video he had seen earlier on social media. Mr. Dong admitted that due to a misunderstanding, his actions caused public panic.
