(Baonghean.vn) - In response to World Glaucoma Week, from March 6 to March 13, 2017, Nghe An Eye Hospital organized a screening program and provided free medicine for Glaucoma patients.

Glaucoma is a chronic disease that can lead to blindness due to irreversible damage to the optic nerve if detected late and not treated promptly. Therefore, early detection and treatment of glaucoma is very important, thereby preventing the risk of blindness.

In Vietnam, Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness after cataracts. Although there are no specific statistics, in fact, at Nghe An Eye Hospital, the number of patients suffering from this disease is very high and most patients come to the clinic when the disease is in the late stages, losing almost all of their field of vision.
