Coming to Pa Khom village, Tri Le commune (Que Phong), many people were surprised by the method of raising and caring for cows and horses of Ly Ba Cu and his son, a Mong ethnic person here.
Sharing about how to raise a large herd without losing or getting sick, Ly Ba Cu said: “Before starting to raise livestock, my family found a place with a lot of grass, built a fence and marked off a grazing area. We chose good breeds before releasing them. At first, we only selected 10 breeding animals, now we have nearly 50. Raising buffaloes, cows, and foals all grow very well. In particular, raising horses is less likely to get sick.”
Mr. Ly No Po, Ly Ba Cu's father, said: In Pa Khom village, there are still many livestock models. People raise buffalo, cows, goats, and horses in the hundreds. Like him, they also split into many herds, divided into many farms, easy to control, and avoid risks when there is an epidemic. "Our family has 2 farms, one on Tham Tac mountain, one above the old village. We have to divide them into 2 places to have enough food for them."- Ly No Po added.
Mong Pa Khom village may still be poor in terms of roads, infrastructure and other socio-economic institutions, but the villagers are no longer as miserable as before. Because every house has a water-powered electric turbine that lights up day and night. There are motorbikes, televisions, and projectors. Every house raises buffalo, cows, goats and horses. The least number of households has 2 buffaloes, cows and 5-7 goats. The largest number has hundreds of goats. Like Ly No Po and his son Ly Ba Cu, they have up to 124 buffaloes, cows and horses. The value of the livestock is up to 2.5 billion VND. As Ly Ba Cu said, it is "nearly equivalent to 500 tons of rice".
Mr. Xong Ba Cha - Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tri Le commune (Que Phong) said: "In the 8 Mong villages, every village raises many buffaloes, cows, goats and horses. Pa Khom village has 10 households, raising three or four dozen buffaloes and cows, such as Tho Giong Nu, Tho No Po (A), Tho No Po (B), but the most are Ly Ba Cu and his son".

The Mong people are looking forward to having a national grid and a road to the village so that they can sell their agricultural products easily, without having to carry them down the mountain far, saving time and effort... That is the thinking and way of getting rich of the Mong people. If well directed and widely replicated, the way of getting rich of the Mong people will be effective quickly and sustainably, in line with the spirit of Resolution 26 of the Politburo on economic development of Western Nghe An./.
