On March 16, Pantimoong Narisara (28 years old, Thai nationality) was sentenced to life in prison by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City for the crime of illegally transporting drugs.

According to the People's Court, Narisara transported an especially large amount of drugs and was subject to the highest sentence, but the defendant has a child under 3 years old so the court reduced the sentence a bit.

In court, Narisara said she knew a black man named David (unknown background) who lived in Thailand. He introduced her to a job at a gold and silver company in Japan.

In early July 2014, Davia gave her $800 and a plane ticket to Japan. A few days later, he sent another plane ticket and told Narisara to go to Brazil.

Following the African man's instructions, Narisara went to Brazil, and his people took care of all her living expenses. More than half a month later, he told her to go to the airport to return to Thailand. A man came and gave her two backpacks, saying they were "gifts for David", and asked her to take them back.

Before putting the two backpacks in her luggage to take on the plane, she opened them to check but found nothing inside.

However, on the afternoon of July 29, 2014, while completing immigration procedures for her from Brazil (transit in Doha) to Vietnam, Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs discovered in her two backpacks two nylon bags containing 3.6 kg of drugs worth approximately 25 billion VND.

Last September, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court brought the case to trial. Due to many details that needed to be clarified, the court decided to return the case file for further investigation.
